that's the dumbest thing i've ever read. if his job was on the brink of nonexistence, then "yeeehaaaa, time to celebrate!!!" should be replaced with "got some more work to do..."
unemployment isn't a problem going away anytime soon. if you're at the bottom of the totem pole, regardless of the reason, get to work.
