Thank you all for reading my blog, I really appreciate it!
==========================================================
I am so excited to introduce you to the wonderful online boutique called Gumdrop Lane. (I just love this name). Gumdrop Lane is the dream and vision of Erin Ruane, a stay-at-home mom of toddler, Anna, and infant, Sadie. As a former online and offline publishing executive, Erin ran Internet and traditional classifieds businesses before leaving the corporate world to be a full-time mom.
Her goal in creating Gumdrop Lane is to provide a marketplace that is fun and functional giving busy parents, grandparents and anyone else looking for kids' merchandise a convenient, reliable place to shop. Erin is a passionate mom, avid shopper and successful businesswoman with a strong desire to bring her shoppers the best in high-quality new and used apparel and accessories for kids.

What else makes Gumdrop Lane unique?
  • A combination of used and new children's merchandise.
  • A focus on girls, boys and infants up to 4T.
  • The “Sweet Picks” line of used merchandise.
  • A portion of their sales goes to support Autism Speaks, an organization dedicated to raising public awareness of the devastating effects of autism on children and to funding global research into the causes, prevention, treatment and a cure.
Erin personally selects each piece of merchandise. For their used department, Erin purchases merchandise through a variety of methods including buying directly from parents.
To stock new merchandise, Erin attends apparel shows to scout out the latest trends and purchases the freshest designs covering all of her clients' tastes from traditional to funky.

Buying quality used kids’ clothing and accessories is a terrific idea not just because of the value, but also because “reusing” is the most green way we can all live today.

We are big "reusing" fans. Most of Abby's clothes are from my friend's little girl. Lisa's smaller clothes go to another friend of mine and then ultimately come back for when Abby's older and the same with Jamie's clothes. We just rotate clothes between friends.
This little Baby Gap pantall bears on the left is only $1, you can't go wrong there, can you?
This Ralph Lauren dress on the right is only $10.

Another cool feature of Gumdrop Lane is how easy it is to navigate and look for Items, you can search by gender, used and new, age. Or if you just want to scroll through the whole store to see what's there, you can search by all.

There's loads and loads of brand names to choose from, here's some examples (and there's plenty more): Baby Nay, BiziBody, IKKS, Tralala,...

I had the opportunity to review the My Vintage Baby Girly Girl dress and I have to tell you, it already looks cute in the store, it looks even cuter on Abby. What do you think?

The dress is 60% modal/40% cotton and is very soft.
I love, love, love the vintage design of the dress. I love the sparkly details on the front pocket and so does Abby, she loves sparkly things.

I love this idea and especially how organized her shop is. Usually online retail shops look kind of hodge podge and of lesser quality which is why I usually why I buy from Ebay when I do buy used clothes. I have no problem with buying used as long as it's top quality and name brand. I wouldn't buy Target or Walmart used but have bought Greggy Girl, Gap, Etc. I love buying "new" used as I call it or "preowned" as car dealerships do. Thanks for this awesome giveaway. Oh, and Abby looks adorable in her MVB dress!

Wow-great site. I would buy both. I would start out looking at the used, but I know I would have to look at the new stuff as long as I was there! and 2) I am fortunate to have the best kids consignment shop about 15 minutes from here-I mean, it's awesome. About 75% of her clothes come from there, they are mostly brand names, and I never pay over $3 a piece! So, I definitely shop used-and I love it! thanks!

I like the My Vintage Baby Sweet Skull Set (2T). I would buy from a site that offered new & used items; and yes, I buy children's clothes at the consignment store quite often. Kids grow so fast that sometimes the items I buy look brand new!

I do buy used sometimes...it really depends on the quality, and price! I have problems shopping garage sales for "work" clothes. That the clothing that the kids wear while out helping Daddy. Because they will most likely end up stained anyway. It just saves me the head ache of having to worry about how I'm going to get that stain out.

I do like the Gumdrop Lane layout. I've been to this store before and I think it's easy to manuver though.

this combination new and used in 1 store, does this work for you?
This totally works for us - we love to buy used so we would look there first and if we couldn't find something we wanted, we would buy new.
Would you buy only one or the other from the store or both?
both
do you buy used items for your kids?
yes

I think combining new and used in one store is a GREAT idea. My kids are grown now but I did buy used clothing for them - and now encourage my daughters to do the same for my grandchildren. Thanks for a great giveaway.

I think it is a unique concept to have new and vintage side by side in a store. That being said, I would buy from both most likely as I know that the vintage or used items will have to be in good condition. I have purchased some used kids stuff in the past from garage sales or Goodwill, but it is not something I normally do. Usually I wait for clearance sales of new stuff and buy big enough for the following year-the prices are usually the same doing it that way.

I love the combination of both in one site, and would definitely buy either. We buy a lot of clothes at consignment shops, you can't beat the prices & most of it is barely worn!

I buy both new and used items for my son, and am not creeped out by used clothing. Kids don't wear clothes that long anyway, so there's not a lot of wear and tear on clothing, especially for kids under 2.

I'd definitely buy new and used from this store, since I assume that Erin would make sure the used items are in impeccable condition. And it's great to get some expensive brands for a fraction of the cost.

I'd love to get the Knuckleheads Prep Sweater or Skate pants.

Old and new in one store completely works for me - it's the best of both worlds! I'm a thrift-store gal, so I'd probably by more used than new, but that doesn't mean I'd snatch a new pretty for the right price. ;) And can I say I am so totally loving all the long smocked dresses? Do you know how hard those are to find?!

Unknown said...

I would buy both - and I could buy used for my kids, if the items are in good condition. I got a lot of baby clothes used because little ones wear them for about a minute!

ReggieMann said...

The combination of new and used in 1 store definitely works for me as I buy both new and used clothing. If the item is not too worn or faded, all you need to do is wash it. I have not problem with this. I have bought a few items at work for my niece at "garage sales" departments have to raise money for charity. I have found quite a few nice things so far :)

I think the combination of new and used works very well together. I would buy both. I do buy used clothes, toys and books for my kids. They share my love of thrift stores, yard sales and consignment stores :)

I think new and used in one store is okay, as long as everything is clearly marked as used or new. I buy used books for my daughter, but I can't recall ever buying used clothes for her. I just try to find really good deals on new clothes instead.

I don't have a problem with new and used items being together, but I also have absolutely no problem buying used. I shop at garage sales all the time and love finding a good deal for my daughters. Why pay an exorbitant amount for a t-shirt when I can find it for less than a dollar hardly worn?

Thanks for the giveaway!
