Celebrations!

Ok, so there's a few things I think that are in the wrong order, instead of 5 days work, 2 days weekend it should be the other way around, especially when it's warm weather.
Another one, losing weight should be easier instead of gaining it! Don't get me wrong, I'm so happy I finally lost 13 pounds (still a lot more to go). Well, I was happy until I went to the store and wanted to try on an XL sports top, can you guess what's coming?
I know I shouldn't rely on sizes as it really depends on the brand but what a disappointment!

Next week I need to work out on the Wii a bit more as I haven't been working out this week. I just didn't feel like it.
Any of you have some dieting tips to keep me on track?

I've never tried to lose weight, so I can't help you out with the psychological aspects of dieting... but when I was trying to gain weight, I used fitday.com to track my calories. Basically, use it for a few days to figure out how many calories you eat to maintain your current weight, then start cutting down on that amount by 200-500 per day.

Also, I found this page because you are now a "blog of note". There you go, a reason to celebrate.

The main thing u need to be successful is will power and I suspect u have some of that. U have put it out there for everyone to see - "hey, I have a goal" - and people only do that when they are serious about something!

Do u have a gym/diet buddy? I have membership but I really wish I had someone to go with. It would make the whole experience more social and therefore encourage me to actually go more!

Best wishes, Blog of note!

Make sure you drink half your weight in ounces of water every 3 hours- yeah you'll pee a lot, but sometimes we think we are hungry when we are really thirsty. Take plenty of vitamins too... you'll pee them out too! Congrats on the weight loss. I'm going through "the change" and I can't loose any weight! I'm 50 pounds overweight...and snore now.. waaa : (

Hello! how do you make one of those grab my button things?

I found you through Blogs of Note. I love your blog name. Coffeeholic that I am, it appeals. I use calorieking to count calories and am trying to eat 5 meals a day. Each meal can only have 250-325 calories and must have protein and raw fruit or vegetables. The evening meal was the hardest for me, but I feel like I am eating all day long so I don't feel deprived. I'll be back to visit.

I don't know if you use myspace, but if you do there is a Weight Watcher's on myspace. Also, try slimfast.com Both websites are free and I have to tell you they have helped me tremedously!! I have been using both websites and I am down 30 lbs. I also use the shakes and I go work out on the eliptical, treadmill, yoga, pilates, and karate. Oh and I have also started riding a bike around a lot more too. I bought a beach cruiser which is really awesome. I think the biggest thing is that you make sure you stay active and the recipes from slimfast.com will help you tremendously!! It gives a great variety of food and snacks and also so many different ways to cook the same food.

Congrats on the blog of note =)

I don't know what games you have for your Wii, but Wii Fitness Coach absolutely kicks my butt everytime I play it. It's a much harder workout than Wii Fit or the Jillian Michael's Wii game (if you've tried either of those).

Congrats on Blog of Note! My diet tip is really more of a health tip, but I try to eat one big salad a day, usually with lunch. Not only is it low calorie/fat but you'll also be getting a good dose of vitamins and as long as it's not loaded down with cheese or creamy dressing, you can eat as much as you need. As far as dressing goes, try pouring a vinagrette in a separate dish and dip your fork into it for each bite.

'ello Ann. When you find something that really works - Please pass it along. The only thing I know is if it tastes good, spit it out. I love the wit and humor on your blog. Keep up the good work. Stop by and 'see' me sometime.

I'm from Oregon too. Cool! I lost 30 pounds in 3 months by taking phementermine. My doctor gave it to me, helps curb your appetite. Plus I cut out all caffiene. Blog of note - Good for you, hope one day I can too, except my blog isn't probably very interesting. LOL Anyway good job on the weight loss and good luck with the weight loss left to come.

first off, i cried with roarious laughter when i read that you work out with the wii. it's awesome that the world's fattest nation has actually created a VIDEO GAME that promotes exercise.

secondly, reverse your meals. eat like a pig for breakfast. eat same lunch. bowl of cereal and a banana for dinner.

Wow, that's awesome, thirteen pounds? I can barely lose two. Congrats(:

of all the many way to reduce your excess pounds, Pranayama and Yogasanas are the best.

Do Kapalbhati Pranayam daily for 30 minutes and I can surely say that you can reduce 10 pounds just in a month.

If you wanna know more details regarding this ping me.

My advice to you would be not to become discouraged. There will be days when you will not want to walk, hit the treadmill, work out with Wii, etc. Its natural. The only thing is to stay focused and surround yourself with people that will continue to support you.
And yes, you still need to eat- don't starve yourself!
Take care, and I wish you the best!

Love your blog, your losing at a good pace, better than me! I thought i would use wii to lose but according to sparkpeople, that i looked at thanks to kekelynn, you burn more calories walking than doing wii at high intensity!

Rose said...

I use Sparkpeople.com as well and it does help to record everything you are eating.

About a month ago, I purchased Leslie Sansone Walking at Home DVD. You can do a one mile power walk in place in only 10 minutes or 15 if you prefer.

I have not lost pounds but I have lost inches.

Hugs, Rose P.S. I love the appearance of you Blog! Nice work.

i lost 18kgs, not sure what that is converted to pounds, by cutting out sugars.....that includes potato, pumpkin, peas, carrots, corn, all fruit (except preserved on cereal), bread, rice, pasta, milk, cakes and all the other obvious sugars....you can have soy milk if it is malt free, malt is sugar.
so have only one carb meal for the day, breakfast, all-bran with malt-free soy milk topped with a little tinned fruit. morning tea, small tin tuna with celery OR cherry tomatoes with sml piece of cheese. protein only from now on...lunch, as much as you like of lettuce, tomato, capsicum, cucumber, a boiled egg, radish with chicken (no skin), cold meat eg. roast, tinned salmon....dinner - steak or lamb or chicken or fish with roasted onion, zucchinni, tomato, capsicum, mushrooms, steamed cabbage/bacon on the side....need a snack, have a sml handful of almonds...only drink decaf coffee, no sugar & soy milk or black tea. no alcohol, soft drink, milk. i could keep going but let me know if you want to know more ok

I think it helps to keep Slim Fast diet shake on hand for midnight hunger. It's not been good for me as a meal plan, but the night time use prevents other "quick" snacking. Notice that the quicker the snack is to prepare the more calories it has in it? Like tortilla chips and cheese heated in the microwave? A bowl of ice cream? Slim Fast works here.

i know people say "i don't want to be a vegetarian because i love meat too much"

well may i suggest just trying it out, and when you get weak eat a little bit of meat

imagine this: eing able to eat as many fruits and vegetables as you want, all day long and just barely reaching your calorie limit

amazing.

I buy a pair of pants that are a size smaller. That becomes my goal. When I can fit into them, I've achieved something. Then I have to try not to celebrate by going out for ice cream.

I know it's tempting, but don't wish that loosing weight was easier than gaining. I have been underweight my whole life. I have people telling me all the time just how shinny I am. Some even wonder if I am sick. Nothing ever fits me, and I have to shop in the kids department often. Just as it is heartbreaking to diet a lot and lose very little, it is heartbreaking for me to force feed myself, and gain nothing. My life is ruled by food and weight just as much as someone who has the opposite problem.

Sorry to be a downer, but I hear people say that all the time and what they don't get is that it so damn hard on the other side too.

What a cool blog you have! I just came across it today on Blogs of Note. Congratulations!

I'm currently trying to lose weight too. Trying to get rid of that last 10 pounds! I haven't been staying on too strict of a diet, but I do eat smaller portions and eat more frequently throughout the day (ie: 5 small meals, as opposed to 3 large meals), healthy snacks in between (fruit or vegetables). Good luck!

I just started my own blog recently. Feel free to stop by sometime. =)
Thanks!

hello there! so yeah, i personally refuse to own a scale because i'm convinced they're all full of lies!! and i despise sports bras, cause it doesn't look too bad in the front, until i turn ever so slightly and it's hello backfat!! the only dieting tip i can think of is eating what you want, but cutting down portion sizes to half. it helped me alittle. good luck chica!

try weight watchers, it helped me losing about 50 pounds, really!!!

I haven't clicked on blogs of note for a while but I liked your title a lot so here I am. I'm so happy I did. You have a great blog. Diet tips...make goals for yourself and keep track of them somehow like on a calendar or journal.

Also, take it one day at a time. That mantra has helped me to lose almost 30 pounds and keep it off for a year now. It doesn't matter what you did or didn't do yesterday, just focus on today.

Congratulations on being the blog of note! =)

6 days a week, work out and eat well. Give yourself that 7th day to eat what you want. Have a slice of cake, eat fried chicken, drink a beer. That way you won't cheat!

2to4aday said...

I lost almost 50 pounds 9 years ago, and I had to remove the words "I didn't feel like it" from my vocabulary. Eat simply, only when you're stomach-growling hungry, and get your body moving, every single day. I never, ever once said, "I'm really sorry that I went for that three-mile walk." However, there were certainly times when I didn't go for that walk that I regreted it--really regreted it. You have to permanently change the way you live your life.

Dear Ann,

I noticed on eda's blog (one of the person's that commented on Chinese on this blog) that you have been trying to contact her, and had no idea what she typed. Well unfortunately eda has been spamming all over people's blogs, and posts, and your was one of them, as was I, I would post what it says, but I think it would be considered spamming, so here is the link where you can see for yourself http://snipr.com/j805n I have already flagged her blog, but just make sure to delete the spam, you may also want to delete this post, it was the only way I found to tell you about this. Well hope you won't get any more spam, and I really liked your blog by the way, thanks for the coupons you posted ;)
